Overview
Jetting into the Ikuu airstrip is like transporting yourself to another world. Lying in south-western Tanzania, Katavi National Park is the country’s third largest and home to woodlands, the Katisunga plains, riverine forest and ephemeral lakes. Huge herds of inscrutable buffalo are hunted by fearless prides of lion; massive pods of hippo have territorial fights as high season comes around. This is a truly wild place and you’ll be among the few to experience it.
Tranquil Katavi Lodge is a thatched haven with everything you need for a comfortable safari, including Internet access and an azure swimming pool. Take a drive to the historic tamarind tree connected to Katabi, a legendary tribal hunter and the inspiration for Katavi’s name.
