Highlights
What We Love
- Being close to the access road to be among the first in the crater
- Refined picnics on the crater floor so none of the action is missed
- Daydreaming or napping in comfy sofas under the flat-topped acacias
When To Visit
Peak Season: June to October
The crater is at its busiest so it pays to be as close to the entrance as possible for earlier arrivals and later departures
Green Season: November to December – annual short rains March to May – annual long rains
There are far fewer visitors to enjoy the wildlife, including the Big 5 if your luck is in
Overview
Not only does Ngorongoro Crater Camp have an enviable position on the rim of the ancient and unbroken volcanic caldera but it is near the access road, meaning you can be among the first guests in and last to leave. This is a boon for safari lovers, giving you more time to savour the wildlife paradise of the incredible Ngorongoro Crater.
Back at camp, there are plenty of creature comforts without overshadowing the beauty of the surrounding bush. The large deck is shaded by giant acacias, and intimate candlelit dinners can be set up on the grounds when evenings are balmy and the Southern Cross constellation is rising over the horizon. Cultural tours to a Maasai village are another highlight.
