Highlights

What We Love

  • Some of the tents have rooftop starbeds for sleeping outside
  • Setting off for an unforgettable night of fly-camping in the wild
  • Outstanding chance of seeing cheetah around Soit le Motony

When To Visit

  • Peak Season: June to October

The eastern Serengeti teems with wildlife year around and the shorter grass allows for easier sightings of serval and smaller cats.

  • Green Season: November to April

When the short rains start in November, wildebeest herds move down from Kenya, triggering predator action.

Overview

The eastern Serengeti around Soit le Motonyi is known as cat country: big and small predators thrive here thanks to plentiful prey that makes these plains and acacia woodlands home. It is especially famous for its good cheetah population as well as sightings of shy serval. Olmara Camp makes the most of this abundance with views to the Ngare Nanyuki Valley and selected tents with rooftop ‘stargazer’ sleeping platforms.

Back-to-basics Olamara offers everything from traditional game drives to thrilling fly-camping and hot-air ballooning, two activities every safari lover should experience at least once. The tents are simple but very comfortable, with some being able to sleep four, ideal for small families or groups travelling together.
