Highlights
What We Love
- One of the few camps in the productive Eastern Serengeti
- Located near the densest cheetah population in Tanzania
- Classic safari style with lowkey contemporary touches
When To Visit
Peak Season: May to October
Midyear is dry and sees the parts of the Wildebeest Migration push up and in from the Central Serengeti
Green Season: November to April
The ‘short’ rains generally take place in November and the ‘long rains’ from about March to May
Overview
The Eastern Serengeti was closed to the public for over a decade to allow researchers to study big cat behaviour in the area. Serengeti Plains Camp has a unique position near the Gol and Zebra Kopjes and Ngare Nanyukie River, an area known for high numbers of cheetah. It is about two hours from the bustline Seronera Valley, allowing for a more exclusive Tanzania safari.
Built on grassland near acacia woodland, the camp has a light footprint and only the necessities have been allowed to disturb the pristine landscape. The airy tents have large decks and lounges that look out over the savannah so keep your binoculars and camera to hand as you never know what will pass by!
