When To Visit
Peak Season: April to September
A dry winter with moderate daytime temperatures. By October, the heat increases as humidity builds for the coming summer rains.
Green Season: October to March
Dramatic afternoon showers rejuvenate the bush and wash the air of dust, making for crisper photographs.
Overview
Safaris are not one-size-fits-all. At Simbavati River Lodge, this is especially accurate when it comes to accommodation: you have the choice of a chalet or a more traditional tent, depending on which you prefer for comfort. The lodge, set on the Nhlaralumi River in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve, also has other welcome extras like heated plunge pools in some suites, a children’s club for the youngsters, a gym and a waterhole.
The highly productive Greater Kruger area is hands down the best place in the world to see the Big 5, especially leopard. At Simbavati River Lodge, your luck could also be in to spot rare wild dog and even aardvark, as well as over 360 species of birds.
