OVERVIEW

The Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area is the largest wildlife reserve in the world that comprises parts of five Southern African countries coming together at two great water systems: the Kavango and Zambezi Rivers.

This itinerary idea encompasses three countries – Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe – and gives you a leisurely taste of everything from a big game safari in Chobe National Park to the jaw-dropping sight of the Victoria Falls.

THIS ITINERARY WAS DESIGNED BY ANGELA

My fascination with Southern Africa has seen me journey to the winding waterways of the Botswana’s Okavango Delta, venture to the towering dunes of Namibia’s Sossusvlei, and bask in the glory of the magnificent Victoria Falls. Each destination in Southern Africa has etched a unique story in my heart, showcasing a splendid tapestry of nature and culture.

DAILY ITINERARY

Waiting for you as you touch down at Kasane International Airport in Botswana will be a staff member from Chobe Chilwero, an upmarket lodge on the outskirts of Chobe National Park.

A short drive will soon see you settling into your spacious room and, if time permits, you could go on your first game drive to see some of Chobe’s incredible elephants on the same day. Time on the Chobe River is a highlight, with tranquil boating and sunset cruises.

Why we love Chobe Chilwero:

  • Cooling off in the unique split-level swimming pool
  • Being pampered in the ‘treehouse’ spa treatment room
  • Extremely comfortable rooms with all the mod cons
  • Fine dining with a well-chosen wine list

After three nights in beautiful Chobe, you will cross the border into Namibia and be driven through the Caprivi Strip to Bwabwata National Park. Your goal is Nambwa, the only lodge in the park, which is experiencing a resurgence of wildlife. Because it is on an ancient animal migratory route, Nambwa is built on high stilts connected by wooden walkways.

Between game drives, a highlight is visiting the inspiring Sijwa Project, set up by the lodge to provide community job opportunities.

Why we love Nambwa Tented Lodge:

  • Very large tents built in the treeline canopy
  • Raised walkways so elephants can graze under them
  • Heading for sundowners at Horseshoe Lagoon
  • The only lodge in up-and-coming Bwabwata

After bidding farewell to the friendly team at Nambwa, you have a lengthy drive to the Zimbabwe border and your final destination of the Victoria Falls. Take this time to nap and soon you will be checking into Victoria Falls Safari Club.

Three nights here will fly by as there is so much to see and do. In addition to the Falls, you can go boating or rafting on the Zambezi, shop in the markets and enjoy the energy of Victoria Falls Town.

Why we love Victoria Falls Safari Lodge:

  • Views of the sunset over Zambezi National Park
  • Dinner, drumming and dancing at The Boma
  • Fascinating hours at the Siduli Hide
  • Learning about raptors at Vulture Culture
