THIS ITINERARY WAS DESIGNED BY JOANNE

As a born-and-bred South Africa, I’ve lived in the Western Cape, Gauteng and the Free State. We have so much to offer: you can explore several different ecosystems just within our borders. It’s exciting to go from sub-tropical beaches to adventures the wild Atlantic coast – and the sensational Big 5 game viewing is definitely the cherry on the cake!

DAILY ITINERARY

As you approach Cape Town International Airport, you will see how the city is hugged by iconic Table Mountain. After landing, pick up your rental car and drive to the centre of this warm embrace. Romney Park Luxury Apartments are positioned in a very sought-after neighbourhood with one of the area’s best micro-climates so you can make the most of every season.

Set your own pace and timetable, picking and choosing what you want to see and do in the Mother City.

Why we love Romney Park Luxury Apartments:

  • Independent living in serviced mini-apartments
  • Unimpeded views to the Atlantic Ocean
  • Fantastic sunsets over the horizon
  • Convenient location for city centre and V&A Waterfront

Having got your fill of nature, culture, food and wine, it’s now time to tick the safari box in a big way! A short-haul flight will whisk you to Kruger-Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA), where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to Idube Game Lodge.

This is leopard, lion and rhino country, with plenty of wild dog, elephant, buffalo and more to also be spotted. If you’ve never been on safari before, you’ll soon see why the combination of pure wilderness and discreet service is so addictive.

Why we love Idube Game Reserve:

  • Intimate lodge in a private reserve
  • Go on game drives in search of Africa’s most iconic species
  • In-room Wi-Fi so you can always be connected
  • Very comfortable suites and common areas

Safari means a lot of early wake-up calls so it’s a wonderful option to end with a few days where alarm clocks don’t ring and you can sleep as late as you like. From KMIA, you have another short-haul flight to Vilanculos, a beautiful stretch of the southern-central Mozambique coastline. From there, you will be driven to Massinga Beach Lodge to start your sub-tropical sojourn.

Swimming, snorkelling, biking and even learning to crack a coconut are all part of the fun.

Why we love Massinga Beach Lodge:

  • Glorious views over the azure Indian Ocean
  • Enjoy siestas and cocktails under nodding palm trees
  • Large swimming pool overlooking the sea
  • All suites have uninterrupted ocean vistas

It may be very hard to drag yourself away from the sun and fresh sea air but all good things do come to an end. Depending on your onward arrangements, you will return to Vilanculos Airport and fly to either OR Tambo International in Johannesburg or back to Cape Town.

It is also possible to start this trip on safari, then head to the beach and end in Cape Town – especially if you enjoy shopping and don’t want to worry about luggage weight limits.
