OVERVIEW

To the south of Zimbabwe lies a quiet gem that doesn’t like to attract attention, preferring to offer sheer tranquillity, complete peace and total relaxation. At the heart of Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is one of the country’s most beautiful lodges in an exquisite setting. Pamushana is built into the cliff top overlooking Malilangwe Dam and the unspoilt landscape beyond…

After completely decompressing at Pamushana, the pampering continues with time at one of the Victoria Falls’ dreamiest properties. Be ensconced on a private island in the Zambezi River where it’s hard to believe that the hustle and bustle of Victoria Falls Town is downstream. This itinerary idea is ideal if you want to return home feeling rejuvenated and replenished in every way.

DAILY ITINERARY

A true tonic awaits just a short flight from Victoria Falls International Airport (VFIA) to the Lonestar Airstrip. Flying the breadth of the country, you leave behind the busyness of the Falls for the idyll of Malilangwe.

Clocking at over 52 000 hectares, the reserve is in the remote south-east in a region brimming with wildlife and ancient rock art sites. For four nights, you will be cocooned with Pamushana Lodge, which takes design inspiration from traditional Zimbabwe culture.

Why we love Pamushana Lodge:

  • So many activities: yoga, tennis and wine tasting
  • All spacious suites have private plunge pools
  • Well-equipped spa and dedicated fitness centre
  • Detailed stonework evocative of the ruins of Great Zimbabwe

It will be a bittersweet farewell to the Pamushana staff today but rest assured that more legendary Zimbabwean hospitality is in store. Waiting at the airport will be some of the team from Victoria Falls River Lodge, where a boat trip will deposit you at the Starbed Treehouse Suites on Kandahar Island.

As the name suggests, every suite has a rooftop starbed and is built on stilts right in the Zambezi River. Although there are plenty of activities, you may never want to leave…

Why we love Victoria Falls River Lodge Starbed Treehouse Suites:

  • Only two suites for a truly exclusive experience
  • Private plunge pool and sleepout bed
  • A discreet butler service ensures you have all you need
  • A grown-ups ‘treehouse’ amid mature riverine forest

What a week: delicious food, excellent wine, exciting game and so much more – all seamlessly co-ordinated by highly professional staff. As you close the door to your treehouse, you may wish you never had to go home, always the sign of a successful safari.

This itinerary can also originate at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, with flights into Bulawayo, Lonestar or VFIA. In addition, extra nights can easily be added at Pamushana and Victoria Falls River Lodge.
