OVERVIEW
The Mole is one of Swakopmund’s best-known spots: a piece of land that juts dramatically into the sea and is surrounded by crashing waves on three sides. It is also the location of Strand Hotel Swakopmund, a sleek outpost that makes the most of its enviable position near the promenade and the quaint historical buildings that still line the original compacted salt streets of the early 1900s.
Inside, expect all the usual facilities offered by a contemporary hotel, including a spa and gym. Accommodation options reach all the way to the romantic presidential suite, which has a fireplace for Swakopmund’s notoriously foggy evenings. On sunny days, the restaurant has lovely sea views – look out for Cape fur seals, pelicans and even whales!
