CONSERVATION & COMMUNITY
Kulala Wilderness Reserve
Since 1996, the area has been undergoing sensitive rehabilitation to rewild it after it was used for subsistence goat herding. The removal of fences (including the barrier with NamibRand Nature Reserve) has encouraged wildlife to return
OVERVIEW
Sossusvlei is one of the most popular sites in Namibia but at Kulala Desert Lodge, you can beat the crowds thanks to a private gate directly from Kulala Wilderness Reserve. This striking landscape of dunes, peaks and quiver trees is home to aardwolf, Cape fox, barking geckos and lurking brown hyena. Venture out to explore the Sesriem Canyon and the Tsauchab River on foot, by fat bike or even on a hot-air balloon.
Back at the lodge, you can expect a comfortable sanctuary from the extremes of the outdoors. In summer, the swimming pool is the place to be while the cosy rooftop beds make every night an adventure… you’ll be asleep before you run out of stars to count!
