OVERVIEW

Kariega Game Reserve is home to one of South Africa’s most heart-rending conservation stories of a young rhino calf who survived a poachers’ attack. Conservation and care for the land is key here and their efforts are showcased by thriving populations of the Big 5 as well as the careful reintroduction of zebra, giraffe, Cape grysbok and African wild cat.

Back at the lodge, you’ll find a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere and cosy log chalets, some with indoor fireplaces or plunge pools on their decks. Children have a special daily programme of fun age-appropriate wildlife and craft activities in a malaria-free environment. An Eastern Cape safari is never complete without seeing elephant, warthog or even bushpig emerge from the lush thicket!
