OVERVIEW

As you arrive at Selinda Explorers Camp, you’ll be forgiven for thinking that you’ve gone back in time. The large open-air tents are littered with Persian carpets, antique lanterns and polished copper, giving the feel that a trading part from Zanzibar had passed through the private Selinda Reserve. The first Westerners to come to Botswana would have had similar camps, rekindling the nostalgia for a simpler time.

But it’s back to the 21st century when it comes to activities, which range from game drives to scenic flights in high-tech helicopters that give you a renewed appreciation for the vastness of this 130 000-hectare reserve. The highlight is definitely guided canoeing on the Selinda Spillway – it’s cooling, calming and exhilarating all at once…
