CONSERVATION & COMMUNITY
Turtle conservation
Working with fishermen to rethink nets that trap turtles and helping save turtles injured by marine plastic. Marine biologists also monitor the reef and rock pools at Baraza for overall health
Green operations
Wastewater is converted into irrigation water via an eco-friendly sewage system and the use of plastics has been reduced as much as possible. Local artisans provide furniture and goods from reclaimed or recycled materials, and local farmers supply fresh produce where possible
OVERVIEW
Baraza is one of those rare places where it really is true that there’s ‘something for everyone’. Sporty travellers can be challenged to volleyball, football and Frisbee on the beach, water babies can head out on boats and kayaks, and nature lovers will enjoy exploring the gardens and going birding. Even arty visitors can revel in interactive cooking classes with local spices and Swahili cultural experiences like traditional weaving lessons.
There is also a choice of restaurants and bars – from casual to stylish. The different villa types are perfect for honeymooners (each has a private plunge pool) and families (TVs and DVD players will delight the children on the rare rainy day). No two days are ever the same at Baraza!
