Because Shinde was one of the first camps ever built in the Okavango, it occupies one of its most beautiful areas and a prime position in the private concession. ‘Shinde’ means ‘tree squirrel’ in Setswana and it’s this connection that could have inspired the lodge’s signature treehouse design as the tents and main areas are all along elevated teak walkways under the ebony and mangosteen trees.

Shinde’s location offers year-round land and water activities. Every guest has a window seat on the game drive, making it easier to spot and photograph the leopards and rare sitatunga for which the concession is known.
