OVERVIEW
Cosy cabins set in manicured gardens, with views of the Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo volcanoes – what more could you want? How about a much-needed foot massage after your gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park and your muddy boots returned fresh and clean?
Amakoro Songa Lodge is near the historic town of Kiningi and a great base for excursions to the park (which also has superb birding and golden monkey tracking). Explore Kiningi on a mountain bike and join a guided tour to understand Rwanda’s history. A highlight back at Amakoro is a demonstration of an energetic Intore dance, traditionally performed by men as a war ritual! Local culture extends to the cuisine, with the chefs expertly fusing western and African dishes.
