OVERVIEW

One of Kenya’s undoubted secret gems is Meru National Park, one of the most biodiverse in the country. Everything from rhino and rare lesser kudu to cheetah, Bohors reedbuck and naked mole rats can be found here. Thirteen springs and the Tana River, the longest in Kenya, ensure great grazing. From its solid granite perch on Mughwango Hill, Elsa’s Kopje makes the perfect place to explore Meru.

A ‘kopje’ is a rocky outcrop and the lodge has been carefully designed around massive boulders. Panoramic vistas are everywhere, even from bathtubs. Venturing out, the very large rhino sanctuary not only provides a safe haven for these threatened creatures but also fantastic game drives in the over 8 000 hectares of pristine bush.
