OVERVIEW
Rupert Fothergill was a conservationist known for co-ordinating Operation Noah that saved thousands of wild animals during the building and flooding of the Kariba Dam in the 1960s and moving them to safety in nearby Matusadona National Park. Today his legacy lives on at Fothergill Island, a slice of paradise on Lake Kariba.
The lodge comprises a main section and Little Fothergill, which is ideal for groups or those wanting more privacy. Mopane forest attracts grazing elephants and other game and birdlife can be spotted on game drives and nature walks. The lake is central for boating and fishing while landlubbers can hit the gym (with views of the lake from the outdoor stationary bikes!) or try their hand at archery.
