OVERVIEW
Acacia trees are abundant here but Gomoti Plains is actually named after the local word for a water fig tree. Lying in a verdant grove, this small camp is firmly focused on the big outdoors with multiple safari activities available in the private concession, including walks in the cool of the day and night drives to find nocturnal animals like porcupines, bushbabies, anteaters, serval and civet.
A big drawcard is, of course, being able to settle into a mokoro (or traditional dugout canoe) and be poled through some of Africa’s most beautiful landscapes. If you’re really lucky, a breeding herd of elephants – babies in the middle, teenage bulls practising being on guard – will pass in the distance, an unforgettable Gomoti experience…
