OVERVIEW
If you really want to step back in time while maintaining all modern conveniences, nowhere is it more possible than at Kirkman’s Kamp in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve adjacent to the Kruger National Park. Harking back to a gracious 1920’s homestead, this lodge offers equally refined games of lawn cricket and croquet, while those not wanting to swim can head to the tennis court instead.
The 10 500 hectare / 26 000 acre concession can be explored on day and night drives, or in your own private vehicle (be sure to take along the Swarovski binoculars found in every cottage for guests’ use). After dinner in the boma, savour a nightcap in Paul’s Pub, named after a founding owner of the lodge.
