OVERVIEW
While northern Zimbabwe hums with throngs of visitors to the Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park, the south is altogether calmer, quieter and under-explored, ideal if you want to truly get away from it. Pamushana is one of the country’s most luxurious lodges. Built amid massive boulders above Malilangwe Dam, its ‘backyard’ is the enormous Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve, a special sanctuary for black and white rhino, and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest.
Inspired by the ruins of Great Zimbabwe and Shangaan culture, Pamushana has almost as many activities on site as off, including tennis, yoga, wine tasting and stargazing. The dam is idyllic for boating and sundowner cruises before you return to a multi-course dinner and bed in front of a crackling fire.
