OVERVIEW
‘Back to basics’ doesn’t get any better than at Somalisa Expeditions, named after the Somalisa Concession in Hwange National Park. This is an old-school tented camp for safari lovers who still enjoy slightly roughing it but with modern must-haves like solar power and electrical charging points.
A major highlight is the ‘elephant pool’ right in front of the main area: Hwange is rightfully known as Zimbabwe’s elephant kingdom and both breeding herds and lone bulls visit daily to drink their fill, especially as dry season wears on. Although game drives and nature walks are included, you could also easily opt to stay back at camp, make yourself comfy on the deck, and get great ellie photographs without even really trying!
