OVERVIEW

Sometimes less really is more. On this itinerary, you settle into three of South Africa’s best properties and have sufficient time to unwind. A gentler pace means you can return home refreshed after just 10 days.

Landing at OR Tambo International Airport, you’re immediately whisked away to The Saxon, Johannesburg’s premier hotel. Fine dining, a spa, a wine cellar and more are mere steps away. After getting over your long-haul flight, four nights in the mystical Kalahari await followed by four nights in multi-faceted Cape Town. Tswalu promises the chance to look for pangolin, interact with meerkats, find endangered rhino and perhaps even spy a cheetah on the hunt. In Cape Town, take your pick of art, wine, wildlife, culture and history.

THIS ITINERARY WAS DESIGNED BY SABRINA

Fortunate enough to call South Africa my home, I have been blessed with countless opportunities to explore this magnificent country. From the majestic peaks of Table Mountain in the Mother City, the famous vineyards of the Cape Winelands to the untamed wilderness of Kruger National Park and the endless beaches and tropical weather of Kwazulu Natal, I have had the privilege of immersing myself in South Africa’s diverse landscapes.

DAILY ITINERARY

Johannesburg is the most developed city on the continent with slick skyscrapers, high-speed rail and glossy malls and galleries. Waiting for you at the airport will be your transfer to Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa, a sprawling estate in one of Johannesburg’s most tranquil enclaves.

Two nights gives you a full day to get over the rigours of the flight, perhaps with a session in the spa or pool, and some time to see one or two travel highlights.

Why we love The Saxon:

  • World-class collection of villas and suites
  • Widely considered Johannesburg’s best hotel
  • Award-winning spa with signature therapies
  • Superb wine cellar with sophisticated bar

After decompressing at The Saxon, you’ll be ready for your short flight to the private airstrip in Tswalu, a private reserve in the north that encompasses the Kalahari and plenty of desert-adapted species.

Four nights will give you ample time to enjoy much of what this very special place has to offer including game watching by horseback, private vehicle or on foot. Visit community projects, meet habituated meerkats, sleep under the stars and discover ancient but inspiring Bushmen rock art.

Why we love The Motse:

  • Understated Kalahari lodge made of natural materials
  • One of the largest private reserves in South Africa
  • Pure night sky for exceptional stargazing
  • Wood-burning fireplaces for crisp winter evenings

From the red soil of the Kalahari to the deep azure ocean of the Cape… After getting your safari fill, it’s time to replenish your soul with culture, art, good food, great wine and even more beautiful scenery.

Once a private mansion, 21 Nettleton is today one of Cape Town’s most rarefied and best-kept secrets. From its cliffside location in Clifton you can reach the V&A Waterfront, the Winelands and Cape Point, returning each evening to a carefree haven in your plush suite.

Why we love 21 Nettleton:

  • Sensational views of the ocean and mountains
  • Hidden away in very exclusive neighbourhood
  • A handful of rooms for peace and quiet
  • Convenient location for many attractions

It is extraordinary the difference just 10 days of excellent service and a seamless journey can do for body and soul. This itinerary gives you three prestigious bases from which to explore some of the best South Africa has to offer, with special treats and little extras along the way.

After a final morning at 21 Nettleton, perhaps after breakfast with an ocean view, your driver will be waiting to take you back to Cape Town International Airport for your flight home.
