Overview
Transfers between lodges are usually done by game-drive vehicle or light aircraft. But this special itinerary has a unique twist: your transfer in Hwange National Park is via an old-fashioned train! The Elephant Express is part of an older network that is still operational and takes guests on a fun journey between sidings. Fortunately, there is no need for a timetable as you never know what may be snoozing on the tracks…
Besides five nights in Hwange, you also spend three nights in Zimbabwe’s most famous and arguably most awe-inspiring site: the Victoria Falls. This is a must-see on every safari goer’s bucket list and is made even more memorable by staying on an elephant and wildlife sanctuary in Victoria Falls National Park.

DAYS 1 TO 3+
Friendly smiles and hearty handshakes are sure to await you at Bomani Tented Camp, which is located in a private concession on the Ngamo Plains of Hwange National Park. This is a highly productive wildlife area with good sightings of all the big cats as well as Hwange’s famous elephants. A highlight at Bomani is a visit to the white rhino sanctuary, where two males are establishing their territory before females are introduced. This is a moving and inspiring conservation story. DAYS 3 TO 6+
‘All aboard!’ Yes, Day 4 sees you waiting on the platform to catch the Elephant Express open-air train to the Kennedy Siding and your next accommodation at The Hide Safari Camp. This trip is the world’s most unusual game drive and you never know what you’ll see patrolling the tracks. You have three nights at The Hide, which is one of Hwange’s iconic camps and best-known for its secluded ‘bunker’ at the waterhole that is a magnet for species great and small. DAYS 6 TO 9+
It’s always great to end a safari on water and this is the ultimate place to do it. After leaving The Hide for the Umtshibi Airstrip, you will land at Victoria Falls International Airport and be welcomed by the team from The Elephant Camp.
